WrestleMania XXVIII just got an Extra-special addition to an already action-packed event.
Maria Menounos didn’t back down from an open challenge made when Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Eve crashed the set of NBC’s Extra at The Grove in Los Angeles.
After Beth and Eve interrupted Thursday night’s telecast while Kelly Kelly was being interviewed, the Divas Champion dared Menounos and her longtime opponent to a match at WrestleMania XXVIII. Unfazed by the heated confrontation, Menounos accepted as a live audience cheered on the hostess of Extra, the nationally recognized leader in entertainment news.
WWE officials have confirmed that a tag team match pitting Menounos and Kelly Kelly against Beth and Eve will take place at The Show of Shows on April 1.
Menounos has never been one to back down from WWE competition, having clashed with Phoenix twice before, including a shocking pinfall over The Glamazon in an Eight-Diva Tag Team Match at WWE Tribute to the Troops last December. Both occasions provided Menounos an opportunity to prove she’s more than capable of holding her own in a WWE ring.
Now the entertainment show anchor will get a chance to tangle with Beth and Eve on The Grandest Stage of Them All. And you can bet Kelly Kelly will hold nothing back in a battle with two of her fiercest rivals in the Divas division. It all shapes up to be one the hottest clashes in Miami at WrestleMania XXVIII.

WWE.Com Exclusive – Eve rips Maria Menounos over her Diva Guests
WWE officials have gone back and forth several times on what the Divas will do at WrestleMania 28. Before word came down that TV host Maria Menounos is now scheduled to participate with the Divas in Miami, officials had been discussing a program between just Eve Torres and Kelly Kelly – which would have left some of the other prominent Divas out of a match. As we have noted, officials have discussed several other matches including Beth Phoenix vs. Kharma which doesn’t look like it will be happening.
So it will either be two matches of Maria vs Beth with Maria winning (since the celebrity always wins in the celebrity matches) & Eve vs Kelly (unknown type of match) or just one which would be Eve vs Kelly.
Yet another round of some media from Eve and The Miz’s appearance at a “Be A Star” Rally in Los Angeles. WWE.Com had the chance to upload 12 photos from the event. Head over to the gallery to check them out!
After Eve declared on Raw SuperShow two weeks ago that she’d taken advantage of Zack Ryder’s feelings to further her own career and planned on doing the same with John Cena, she quickly became the recipient of great scorn. Cena proclaimed on the same show that he lost a “broski” for a “hoeski;” this has led to the WWE Diva being inundated with the derogatory name at live events and through social media outlets. Legendary wrestler Mick Foley, a friend of Eve’s, is not fond of this uncomplimentary storyline and is voicing his concern through Twitter.
Foley initially played up the storyline on the micro-blogging site by saying Ryder should give Eve another chance. A follower of Foley’s disagreed, writing, “Once a #Hoeski, always a #Hoeski.” He responded by saying both Ryder and Cena should apologize to Eve for calling her that name.
“Sorry, @LizBDecker, but @ZackRyder should take @EveMarieTorres back AND apologize for calling her that name. @JohnCena should apologize too,” Foley wrote. “It’s important to be able to disagree without being disagreeable. @ZackRyder should just say #noski when it comes to using the word #hoeski.”
Foley adds that WWE is sending a “mixed message” with the name-calling since they have an anti-bullying campaign in place not to mention that Cena proclaims to “rise above hate.”
“I wouldn’t be so uneasy with the name-calling if not for Be a Star and @JohnCena rising above hate. Mixed message,” he wrote in response to the following comment: “How does John Cena accusing Eve of being a skank and of being diseased fit with the Be a Star campaign?”
Foley continues, “I think @zackryder can come out of this looking good, but not if he gives into something as cheap and easy as name-calling.”
He was also asked whether the storyline is a product of lazy writing or indicative of a blatant sexism problem within WWE.
“I really love what WWE is doing with it’s anti-bullying campaign – but the “hoeski” thing did strike me as the lazy way out,” Foley responded.
This is not the first time where Foley has publicly taken a stand for a female being demeaned on WWE programming as he took offense online to Triple H belittling ring announcer Lilian Garcia with a hurtful behind-the-scenes joke during a 2010 episode ofRaw. He acknowledged then that speaking out against the WWE head may have cost himself professionally down the road, but vehemently felt he had to take a stand.
After the past few weeks, these one-time friends are seemingly no more. Check out WWE.com’s exclusive gallery of the evolution — and de-evolution — of a broken friendship between Eve Torres Kelly Kelly.
